On television and even at the local mall I have noticed how grown up today's youth is beginning to be. I see twelve and thriteen year old girls wearing miniskirts and makeup. I find myself shopping in the same stores as pre-teens. On the Internet I read worried young teen's rants about their lack of sex life at the age of fourteen. In my own conservative, mid-western town the high school even opened up a child care center so local teens with children can continue their education.
Whatever happened to just being a kid? We have children running around doing adult things and entertaining far too many adult thoughts. As an aunt, I want my niece's main concerns to be her science project and which sports she's going to try out for this summer; not whether her butt looks big in the latest styles or not.
Growing up isn't easy. There is a lot of life to learn while you're still under your parents' wing. When forced to mature at such a rapid rate, I can't help but think that a child is missing out on some important things. To be jaded by the age of eighteen is very sad, indeed.
So, please, take life as it comes. Have fun! What will be, will be.
My sentiments exactly. I'm 17 and growing up I never cared about make-up or sex like other girls my age did. They weren't happy unless they looked like 12 year old sex goddesses, now I wonder who is happier?
I love your picture though, it's simple and straight forward. Like art should be. I love it!
Very Powerful. I'm 18 and I don't know if I was a victim of growing up to fast, but it is sad to look at children walking around carrying purses with makeup on, wearing miniskirts. I feel like they're all going to have some serious problems growing up. I love your work, it's very beautiful and inspiring.
To me this doesn't exactly strike me as the implication of growing up too fast. I didn't read your comment first amiga, I thought this was about either child abuse or prostitution. You did a very good photo manip, great job amiga.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
